Materials
Acacia WoodA dense, warm hardwood with rich, swirling grain, in shades from honey to deep brown. Acacia is tough and resists knocks, so it suits chairs, benches and armrests that get used every day. Like most woods outdoors, it slowly softens in colour over time. A coat of outdoor wood oil once or twice a year keeps its glow and helps it shed water.
Polypropylene ClothA hard-wearing outdoor fabric woven from fibres that barely absorb water. Cushions dry fast after a swim or a passing shower and resist mould and mildew, which makes it a natural choice by the pool. It keeps its colour in the sun and cleans easily: most marks come off with water and a little mild soap.
RopeOutdoor rope, woven by hand over a frame to make seats, backs and armrests. It adds texture and a relaxed, handmade feel, while staying comfortable and keeping its shape season after season. To clean it, use a soft brush, mild soap and plenty of water, then let it dry fully in the air.
